‘Lula and the Rainbow Rocket’
Written by a dear friend and fellow Occupational Therapist Hazel Boomkamp-Lee (We trained together at the London School of Occupational Therapy) ‘Lula and the Rainbow Rocket’ is a rollicking and humorous story.
Lula’s determination to succeed makes this such a positive and life-affirming read and the whacky adventures she has along the way makes the story all the more enjoyable.
Lula, the central character is an immensely likeable, curious, plucky, energetic and extremely capable girl who overcomes a devastating accident that renders her paraplegic and a wheel chair user.
The places and characters have been brought to life by imaginative names and descriptive and amusing similes which had me chuckling out loud on many occasions.
Promisingly, the clever ending is full of future possibilities for further adventures. If you are looking for a positive role model, Lula fits the bill perfectly.

• Hello blogreaders!
Not long ago, I didn’t know what a ‘blog’ was, so when Andy hinted that it would be nice if I could write something for the http://www. enjoy-able.co.uk blog, I was flattered he asked me, but at a bit of a loss. Undoubtedly Lula would know what a blog is, so I, as her creator, knew I would definitely have to look into it! First of all, I’d like to wish my friends, Andy and Sandy, success with their wonderful website and company. Since my book, ‘Lula and the Rainbow Rocket’ was published a few months ago, I’ve received many words of praise and encouragement (and sales!), and the glowing review written by Sandy (see the earlier blog) was like the cherry on the cake. Thanks from me and from Lula - she likes to be mentioned! Until the next blog - best wishes from Hazel.
Hello again, blogreaders!
It’s amazing how the year has flown by! 2010 is already waiting in the wings to take over from 2009! I apologise. I hope I haven’t filled your minds with panic-stricken thoughts like, “I’ll never be ready in time!” or “Not another year of not knowing what to buy everyone!” during these busy weeks before Christmas. Of course, gifts are nice but not essential. But if you have trouble knowing what gifts to buy your nearest and dearest, or any of your other family members and friends, then http://www. enjoy-able.co.uk is worth browsing through. Handy items and games from Andy Homewood’s innovative company could solve your festive problem. And I mustn’t forget Lula of course! She has asked me to mention her book, so don’t forget to order
‘Lula and the Rainbow Rocket!’ http://www.lularocket.com. As you know, it is an inspiring children’s novel, so please gift-wrap it for a pre-teenager who could do with a morale booster and, especially if he or she has plans to become a Paralympic athlete! Lula is pleased because older people as well as younger ones are enjoying reading her story too. She says there is nothing like reading something cheery during these dark winter months! And when you are thinking up New Year resolutions – perhaps one could be to order Lula’s book and/or something from http://www.enjoy-able.co.uk in 2010!
Have a Happy Christmas! God bless, Hazel
Sandy is a friend of my Mums and asked me if I would like to read ‘Lula and the Rainbow Rocket’ and make a few comments after -so here they are
I liked the book and would read it again. I found it easy to read but found that it had lots of brackets. I enjoyed all the funny names and all the people at Pumpookia. I was glad the bully became good in the end and included Lula. I found the kidnapping a little bit scary but my favourite character was Lula. I didn’t feel sorry for her because being in a wheelchair didn’t stop her from doing what she wanted.

Lula and the Rainbow Rocket
“I liked: I think this book is fantastic and exciting. The author described the characters really well and couldn’t wait to read the next chapter.
I didn’t like: At the beginning of the book I thougth the author kept on talking about Roxy and not enough about Lula.
Stars: I would give this book ‘4 Stars’
Bye Bye!

Hello bloggers!
Are you, like me, surrounded by the white stuff? It’s very pretty to look at but maybe you’ve had enough of having a frosty nose and getting your shoes wet. Roll on spring! Moan over. Still, at least the cold weather gives us a good excuse to stay in and read an exciting book…hint! Here’s a big THANK YOU to Sandy, Isabel and Emily for giving my book such good reviews. It’s great to get four stars, too! I’m pleased to say that ‘Lula and the Rainbow Rocket’ is now available as an e-book as well as a paperback. Just click on to http://www.lularocket.com and all will be revealed! It will be soon available on Amazon.com too. Happy reading - and all the best for this year. Until the next blog, Hazel
I like that :), (or rather, those bits I could easily read). I am afflicted with color blindness (tritanopia to be exact). I mainly use Konqueror browser (not sure if that makes a difference), and much of your webpage has display problems for me. I don’t wish to whinge, and I know it is my problem really, nevertheless it would be kind if you would bear in mind color blind surfers when doing the next web page redesign.
I have big fun read this post. I need to see more about this subject.. Appreciate creating this good info.. Anyways, I’m planning to subscribe to your rss and I hope you make useful posts again rapidly.
